The Power of Music
An important dynamic during the civil rights movement, music was once described as the "greatest singing movement in our nation's history "Many songs were derived from the culture of Southern black churches, and touched many peoples souls that brought them hope, inspiration, freedom of expression, determination and power ("Music and the movement", n.d.).
